Picture this: band quickly encircles the New York underground. Much is made of their chopped-up rock shellac and stellar live performances. After a self-released EP squeezed its way from the New York underground and into English hands, the band storms the UK, as fans and press lap from their outstreached palms. So begins the NYC band legend. And now the YEAH YEAH YEAHS have a chance to romp stateside via a statewide release from good ole Touch And Go. Bravely featured by Rolling Stone as a "Band To Watch", this three-piece must be heard or better yet, witnessed. DJ Sandra Barrett's devotion goes back to before she brought them to the Abbey Lounge. Plus she's a River Gods favorite. Nick from Shopping opens with tracks from Love, Pavement, the Wicked Farleys and, uh, Lawrence Welk?
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: Nick from Shopping
:: 10:30 Featured Album: YEAH YEAH YEAHS "EP" [Touch And Go] Street Date: June 4th
:: 11:00pm - 1am: Sandra Barrett [WZBC 90.3 FM]

To diserning music shoppers, the SOUL JAZZ label is untouchable when it comes to timeless compilations. Nu Yorica, Studio One, the Jamaican sonic stratum and New Orleans Funk have all been flipped under their dust-grouted fingers. We're lucky to hear the results. But after such a track record, they're bound to stumble, right? Wrong. SOUL JAZZ RECORDS re-discovers Reggae Disco. The most funked-out late disco tracks ["Rapper's Delight", "I'm Every Woman", "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"] re-created by that era's Lovers Rock and Rare Groove superstars. Come and watch as our speakers melt to the floor. As our guest DJ Tim Haslett would say, Reggae Disco is "off the cross." DJ UFO will dissect the decks like they were Argentinian cattle.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: DJ Tim Haslett [Urb, Boston Beat, Other Music]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: V/A "Reggae Disco" [Soul Jazz] Street Date: July 16th
:: 11:30pm - 1am: DJ UFO
