The more TRANS AM learns more about the technique of making records, the better and better they seem to sound. Their newest full-length, titled "TA," explodes like a fireball of tight, oscillated pop and slamdance chops. Sliding out of the under-appreciated DC Metro since '90, Trans Am has transformed from a well-produced adept rock project to a neu-wave funk machine. Their last one, "Red Line," blew out the streetlights. TA drops May 7th. Hide the kids.
Before, Teresa from WZBC will leave you giddy and afterwards, our man Tenderloin [a k a Casey Keenan] will be sitting in. He's the closest we have to a "resident," because he's really, really good.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm Teresa [WZBC http://www.wzbc.org]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: TRANS AM "TA" - street date May 7th, 2002 http://brainwashed.com/transam/; playing June 17th w/ ADULT & MAGAS.
:: 11:30pm - 1am Tenderloin [Secrets, Eavesdrop]

The latest in a series of engimatic Icelanders, MUM seems to be a favorite amongst rock photographers [as in the new Index]. Their music is just as striking. An elegant vocal trapeze over scattered and warm electronics. Beat-laden but not overt, the Mum quartet makes music well-suited to 2002, and we're happy they're here. Their previous efforts have been sought-after imports, and now the UK-based Fat Cat [Sigur Ros, Fonn, Matmos] is releasing their newest "Finally We Are No One." Fat Cat is good because they used to be a record shop. With WMBR's Patrick Bryant providing beats and such, or, whatever he wants to provide, really.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: t.b.a.
:: 10:30 Featured Album: MUM "Finally We Are No One" [Fat Cat UK] http://www.fat-cat.co.uk/intro.html
:: 11:30pm - 1am: Patrick Bryant [WMBR http://wmbr.mit.edu/]
