May 7th, 2002
The latest in a series of engimatic Icelanders, MUM seems to
be a favorite amongst rock photographers [as in the new Index]. Their music is
just as striking. An elegant vocal trapeze over scattered and warm electronics.
Beat-laden but not overt, the Mum quartet makes music well-suited to 2002, and
we're happy they're here. Their previous efforts have been sought-after imports,
and now the UK-based Fat Cat [Sigur Ros, Fonn, Matmos] is releasing their
newest "Finally We Are No One." Fat Cat is good because they used to be a record
shop. With WMBR's Patrick Bryant providing beats and such, or, whatever he wants
to provide, really.
