Local Media, River Gods Regulars, Music Fans and Friends,

Here it is, the most roaring eavesdrop yet. Rock and roll has no comparison for the Royal Trux. Springing from noise-rock roots, the duo of Neil Michael Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema made dissonant, powerhouse rock music that overturned conventions like they were anti-corporate lawsuits. A once disturbed, inspired and vicious, it will never be repilcated, as it's too dangerous to try. Their musical history makes Behind The Music look like Saved By The Bell. "Hand Of Glory" is an often-invoked tale of a lost album. And it is demented. Have no fear, though, as our expert DJs will soften the blow. UFO has graciously stepped in on a short notice, and he's invoked ZZ Top. Tenderloin, an Eavesdrop resident and professional drummer, loves the Trux and called this night about three months ago. Rock 'cause its Tuesday at

eavesdrop.

:: October 1st, 2002: ROYAL TRUX "Hand Of Glory" [Drag City]
To underground/indie music fans, Jennifer and Neil [Royal Trux] reign supreme. Possessing and unquenchable desire to rock, the couple pushed their minds and bodies to the brink. They'd tour and record when they could stomach it, move to a major label, do all sorts of drugs, inspire legions until breaking up after a long 6 years. Along the way, they recorded music that would often be compared to the Rolling Stones: captivating, indestructable, but viciously sensual. Iconoclastic. "Hand Of Glory" is an unreleased album of legend. As one of their earliest recordings it is, at times, very noisy. You've been warned. UFO and the always-reliable Tenderloin rock out.

:: October 8th, 2002: AMON TOBIN "Out From Out Where" [Ninja Tune]
Brazil. Land of musical wonder. Batucada, Bossa Nova [I can't imagine how great Caetano Veloso's autobiography must be], Samba, and the modern movements of ambassadors like today's Amon Tobin. Tobin resubmits Brazil's treatise on sonic collage as bubbling, electronic whirlpools. Dense one-two beats recall those classic forms, but Tobin builds on them with a mountain of shimmering samples. A long-time contributor to Ninja Tune, one of the finest labels on the planet. DJ Keith Pagán makes his debut behind the decks, while friend-of-eavesdrop Nick Follett is an expert and Tobin devotee.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm :: DJ Keith Pagán
