The latest in a series of engimatic Icelanders, MUM seems to be a favorite amongst rock photographers [as in the new Index & Rolling Stone]. Their music is just as striking. An elegant vocal trapeze over scattered and warm electronics. Beat-laden but not overt, the Mum quartet makes music well-suited to 2002, and we're happy they're here. Their previous efforts have been sought-after imports, and now the UK-based Fat Cat [Sigur Ros, Fonn, Matmos] is releasing their newest "Finally We Are No One." YOUR DJS: Alise from the Cellar's Appliance Of Science has a deep collection of fabulous electronic releases she'll share and Patrick Bryant [WMBR] was one of our favorite customers at Other Music. It'll be pleasant.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: DJ Alise [WMBR, Appliance Of Science]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: MUM "Finally We Are No One" [Fat Cat UK]
:: 11:30pm - 1am: Patrick Bryant [WMBR]

To say that the new release from underground-devotee Josh Davis [DJ Shadow] is highly-anticipated would be an understatement. His first CD [1997's "Entroducing"] is simply a recording everyone should own. His newest: "The Private Press" does not dissapoint. A fascinating treatise on hip-hop, Shadow's latest is boiling over with head-nodding beats. Needless to say, with multinational Island/Universal behind him, he'll be the subject of many an article and "The Private Press" will be on many a year-end top 10 list. Come get an advance sample. YOUR DJS: Mr. Breeze's record collection is sick as a dog, and Easy has some laid-back rock grooves up the proverbial sleeve.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: Jeff Breeze [NE PerformerPipeline]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: DJ SHADOW "The Private Press" [Island/Universal]
:: 11:30pm - 1am: Easy [Eavesdrop]
