July 16th, 2002
Somewhere between New Order's Movement and Trans Am's Surrender To The Night, MIDWEST PRODUCT douses the ears with thick splashes of bounded electrofunk. Throw in vocoder, suspensful gaps and wide-band oscillator noise and you're ready to strip naked. If you want. The quality people of Ann Arbor's Ghostly label is the kind of support any band needs. Combustible. DJ Gudjonsson returns after her fresh pre-Doves debut and COOKIES [WZBC], a longtime River Gods superstar, takes us into Wednesday.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: DJ Gudjonsson [Brendan Behan Pub]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: MIDWEST PRODUCT "Specifics" [Ghostly] Street Date: July 23rd
:: 11:30pm - 1am: COOKIES [WZBC]

July 23rd, 2002
:: July 23rd, 2002: It was fun to see BETH ORTON in the New York Times Magazine this week. Deserving at least as much attention as Moby, Ms. Orton teams up with the UK's most consistent label Heavenly [and our own amazing Astralwerks] to release her third album Daybreaker, with guests Emmylou Harris, Ben Watt [Everything But The Girl] and the Chemical Brothers. As it happens, she plays the Avalon on July 31st. Fresh off a DJ summit at the Milky Way, River Gods' Thursday night resident Dali is the early selector. DJ Piekos is a professional. Expect his debut album soon. [Beth Orton OUT 7/30]
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: Dali
:: 10:30 Featured Album: BETH ORTON "Daybreaker" [Astralwerks] Street Date: 7/30
