A cover-free evening of new music, corresponding disc jockeys at Boston's most peculiar pub. The party continues at RIVER GODS each Tuesday night. England's JESUS AND MARY CHAIN sit alongside the Smiths as one of the best singles bands of Thatcher-era England. JESUS AND MARY CHAIN "21 Singles" [Rhino] street date: July 2nd, 2002
Its long-past time that England's JESUS AND MARY CHAIN get their singles onto one disc. Leave it to the genius archivists' at Rhino to pool their copyright leverage and get this manufactured. The Reid brothers injected the pop vein with a caked white noise. Imitation and reverence by many bands of today, along with an immense fan loyalty, ensures you've been immersed before. Just as pertinent, Eavesdrop is proud to welcome the time-tested sounds of Jennifer from Boston's much-praised the Pill to introduce the record. Back from Arkansas, Easy cleans it up while once-Eavesdropped Clinic plays up the street. Stop by before or after. Or stay all night.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: Jennifer [Upstairs Lounge's The Pill]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: JESUS AND MARY CHAIN "21 Singles" [Rhino] Street Date: July 2nd
:: 11:30pm - 1am: Easy [Eavesdrop]

After a self-released EP squeezed its way from the New York underground and into English hands, the YEAH YEAH YEAHS have a chance to romp stateside via a statewide release from good ole Touch And Go. The fabled chestpin-on-the-Strokes'-SNL-appearance story will be overheard. The Rolling Stone "Band To Watch" feature fitted their ruby Pumas. DJ Sandra Barrett's devotion goes back to before she brought them to the Abbey. Plus she's a River Gods favorite.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: t.b.a.
:: 10:30 Featured Album: YEAH YEAH YEAHS "EP" [Touch And Go] Street Date: June 4th
:: 11:30pm - 1am: Sandra Barrett [WZBC 90.3 FM]

TO COME +++
:: July 9th, 2002: SOUL JAZZ RECORDS presents "Reggae Disco." The most hooked-up late disco tracks ["Rapper's Delight", "I'm Every Woman", "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"] re-created by 80s London's Lovers Rock and Rare Groove superstars. Personally guaranteed to turn your stereo into a mushy plastic puddle. w/ DJ Tim Haslett and DJ UFO. [OUT 7/16]
:: July 16th, 2002: MIDWEST PRODUCT "Specifics" w/ DJ Gudjonsson. Recalling New Order's Movement and other 24-hour party people, Midwest Product shakes it down. DJ Gudjonsson returns after her fresh pre-Doves debut and DJ T-Roc [WZBC's Teresa] completes the evening. [OUT 7/23]
:: July 23rd, 2002: t.b.a.
:: July 30th, 2002: JEAN GRAE "Attack of the Attacking Things" If Wilco's latest is any indication, hip-hop's Jean Grae [aka What? What?] and her label strife should earn her triple platinum. DJ Nick Follett has the time. [OUT 8/6]
