A few weeks back, Eavesdrop-favorite Soul Jazz was picked
"Hot Label" by the [sometimes] venerable Rolling Stone magazine. Soon enough,
the critical community will turn its ears to Ellen Allien and her fantastic
label BPitch Control. [Find Ellen's latest greatest mix
here.
Also, in another distraction, BPitch's
website is someting else, too]. Their
clean electro sound will perservere and will sound as good in 20 years as it
does today. Practically an eavesdrop prerequisite. As for the compilation
format, you could make the case that the best electronic albums are the
label compilations themselves. As the label defines the sound, however loosely,
the real dance format is the 12" and its respective sides. Hardworking artists
and DJs align themselves with said label, and, whomp, instant
superalbum. And like the title "Gemeinsam", they've done it "Together."
On that note, do try and make some time to vote today on your
way home or during lunch. After all [for better or worse] the one and only thing
that can truly change a Democracy is a vote.
Then come along with WZBC's COOKIES and Daddy Long from the
almighty Appliance of Science as we celebrate the art of democracy tonight
at
eavesdrop.

++ TONIGHT ++
Gosh, since we started this thing back in March we've been
looking for a reason to drop BPitch. The Berlin label is the tech-house label of
choice. Their aesthetic for pop melodies, tough drop-edits and dreamy production
is ace. Top shelf. BPitch Control is run by a loyal collective of artists
[including the most-cool Ellen Allien] who've turned their love of fashion, pop
and partying into vinyl gold. COOKIES recently profiled the label on WZBC
[click
here for the
stream], and has visited their home base in Berlin. We've also been looking for
the right record to invite Jamie [Daddy Long] to rock the decks, too. This is
it. Totally hott pop techno. Full stimulation.

If you weight all the local press, it might
seem Boston's electronic music is nearly non-existant. Not quite true. Techno,
electro and more slow-moving ambient techno all have a real contingent up here.
From the beatbox rhymes of Edan to Hrvatski's avant sounds, from ex-pat DJ
Rupture to Soplerflo, Stuart Walker, Brynmore, Fred Giannelli... you get the
idea. Newcomer Adhesive Records has its ear in the right place. Their compiled
sounds leans towards unsettling but accessible funk tempos and delicate but
disruptive beat programming. Featuring all local acts including Hrvatski,
Cozmopolis, EOSS, Frank Heiss [aka Tube] and 11 others. They'll be
dropping science tonight. In the meantime, the CD is now for sale at River
Gods for a reasonable price. Support local artists, it's great
karma.

:: November 19th, 2002: Torrez "The
Evening Drag" [Kimchee] This Boston
label had quite a nice turnout at their CMJ party this year. Come see why their
newest release is the sweetheart of New Hampshire.
:: November 26th, 2002: Primal Scream "Evil Heat" The Coral "The Coral" [Columbia] Eavesdrop celebrates two
gutsy releases from the UK on Columbia. The techno-fried rock of Primal Scream
and the straight-up bizarre The Coral.
:: December 3rd, 2002: Neptune "The Ballet Of Process"
[Mr.] The always fascinating guys in Neptune play rock instruments
fashioned from scrap metal. Yeah. Top that, Hoobastank.
River Gods is located a
small jaunt of the Central Square T. A completely unique, varied enviroment
