ESG has
influenced the seemingly-disparate sounds of punk rock, hip-hop and house music.
On first listen, in becomes eminently clear why. And the recent rock echoes to
the post-punk 80s have only increased their status and stature. Born from the
Bronx, ESG has long been a group of legend. But having recently been resurrected
with highly acclaimed shows at events like
Ladyfest, and the must-have compilation
A South Bronx Story, ESG
is getting the recognition they deserve [they will make another appearance this
month in support of NY/NJ's
WFMU]. Over 20 years later, they
are regrouping to release a follow-up, the hotly-titled "Step Off." Wow. Wow. DJ
Tim Haslett could reel-off the tracks that have sampled ESG, and
Sandra Barrett recently caught their set in Chicago. Stop by as we celebrated a
