The best artists know about the best music. The fact that Josh Davis [DJ SHADOW] is a record connoisseur should ease your mind. Although now on Island-Def Jam/Interscope/Universal Music Group [indeed], Shadow stays true to his art and his underground past by avoiding the profits of collaboration. This record is all him. All Davis and his crate-digging, vinyl fiend madness. Sampler secured to his hip, DJ Shadow triumphs again with "The Private Press." The next WIRE cover-boy, Shadow deserves the praise and column-length undoubtedly headed his way. Admittedly, only a multinational like Vivendi could handle the demand. However, as the label has left us hanging, we're only playing it for Josh.
YOUR DJS: Jeff Breeze, editor and record obsessive, is taking a break from engineering Pipeline to be with us. He'll pour over what he brings. Trust me. Afterwards, I'm betting you may not even notice the smooth rock and soul of Easy.

:: 10:30 Featured Album: DJ SHADOW "The Private Press" [Island/Universal] street date: May 21st, 2002

Manchester strikes back. The dark and delicious sound of DOVES has the UK press wetting their collective pants. But don't let that deter you. The trio commands the spotlight with its fluid, minor-key melodic charm. The moist Manchester milieu dictates its artists disposition. Doves, perhaps unwittingly, follow the great Manchester acts Charlatans, Stone Roses and the Smiths in touching its Brit-pop with a modern and maudlin aire. Jen has the love, and Zach knows the featured act.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm: DJ Jen Gudjonsson [Brendan Behan]
:: 10:30 Featured Album: DOVES "The Last Broadcast" [Capitol]
:: 11:30pm - 1am: DJ Zac Nadile

EAVESDROP will preview an entire album a week or so in advance, with tasteful guest DJs providing music before and after. It's pretty fun. In fact, we've begun to notice that a Tuesday night out makes your week that much shorter. We think you will too.

Please consider this an email invitation from Rory K., Amy Lee Grill and David Day. If you have any suggestions for albums, DJs or would like to be removed from this electronic list, please just let us know.
