Fourtet's instrumental
music is so imbued with humanity, it's almost as if it had lyrics you can hear.
His debut album
Dialogue was a masterpiece. Along with Boards Of
Canada's
Music Has The Right and Air's
Moon Safari, it
was exemplary of what electronic music could be, an extension of the soul,
although it's high import price kept it out of the states. Now, Fourtet
[Fridge's
Kieran Hebden]
makes a real
go of it here
in the states with the astounding
Rounds. His
label, Domino, has made him some promotional Frisbees, and later this year [May
31 at the Paradise] Hebden tours with the very buzzy Manitoba and Prefuse 73.
That could be the concert of the year.
A few weeks back, we had beach balls, tonight we have FREE
FRISBEES. [So, hey, mebee at Radiohead we'll give away some deck chairs and
you'll be all set]. DJs tonight include WMBR music director and poker champ
Patrick Bryant before, and beats from Easy post-album.
It so happens Easy will be, er, "spinning" this Friday,
May 2nd at the Apple Store at the Cambridgeside Galleria from 6pm-10pm.
[He's DJing on IPods. [Good luck with that.]] Register to wins free IPods,
ITunes subscriptions and a sound system. Hip hip... Apple Macintosh? Should be
good fun down at the mall.
Also peep our upcoming schedule [below], we're staying on top
of things alright this time of year. Throw open the windows while you still
can, and freshen up on this fine evening at
eavesdrop.

Fourtet Rounds
[Domino]
We're hoping the recent success of Domino's Clinic will rub off on
the incredible sounds of Fourtet. Just one man [Kieran Hebden], Fourtet is
a beat-driven, funky symptronic wonderland so fresh and cool you're
guaranteed to have people ask "What is this?" when you play it. His regular
three-piece, Fridge, is enough of a sound, but this project lets his inner
record collector decide what sound will be next. Lush but powerful,
Rounds goes places other beatmakers should, more psyche but
spiked with funk beats. Patrick opens it up with his honed ear and Easy
will drop some hip-hop beats and bumps. Fresh.

Already bumping against an essential status in her native England [and
around the world],
Allison
Goldfrapp has evolved from premiere guest vocalist [Tricky's
Maxinquaye to Orbital's
Snivilization] to outright diva
in the last few years. Lately, she's appeared on Top Of The Pops, BBC Radio 1
and her new video has seen heavy rotation on MTVs in five continents. Her debut
CD with composer Will Gregory,
Felt Mountain, was a word-of-mouth
success story. It eventually sold 500,000 worldwide. Now her
second CD puts her in
the position to go large. The remix from the superpunk T. Raumschmiere sure as
hell doesn't hurt. This is hot stuff. With returning DJs Alexandra and our
friend, George, who'll be celebrating being done with school.
Word.
