Media, River Gods Regulars, Music Fans and Friends,

Nobukazu Takemura is owner of one of the most adept musical minds on our blue Earth. Whether playfully pulling pop's fabric or stretching musical composition to its fray, Takemura bounces sound around your ears like a third-grader with a superball. His latest, and fourth full-length in a year, is Songbook, a work which departs from his usual composition towards gleeful pop, complete with gorgeous vocals and a full band. It's familiar but cutting-edge. Delightful music for a delightful day.

Our DJs are both welcome editions to the eavesdrop timeline, as well as being fantastic radio DJs. Alexandra describes her show as "global melodic sounds" while Brian says his show is for "people who feel music several layers below the epidermis." Plus, we've got over 50 CD samplers from Takemura's Bubblecore label to give away. Shed your skin tonight at

eavesdrop.

 :: April 15th, 2003 Nobukazu Takemura Songbook [Bubblecore]
Japanese super-artiste Nobukazu Takemura is intent on producing as much music as he can, and that we honor here tonight. From his abstract electronic compositions to his Child's View moniker and it's lambent melodic pop sweetness, the man is one colossal talent. Tonight, Takemura's melodic pop takes center stage. Songbook is the latest of his productions, featuring a lovely full band and enough poptimism to make you forget the recent struggles of the world. Alexandra from WZBC's delightful Friday mornings puts us in the mood and Brian from 90.3's long-running Delta Factor takes us into the night.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm :: Alexandra [Melody du Jour]
:: April 8th, 2003 Nobukazu Takemura Songbook [Bubblecore]
:: 11:30pm - 1am: :: Brian [The Delta Factor]

:: April 22nd, 2003 Ellen Allien Berlinette [bpitchcontrol]
At times, it feels like we here at eavesdrop are crying from the wilderness, intent on promoting quality local, national and international acts without regard to sales or hype. For the second time in our tenure, we are spotlighting the BPitch Control label from Berlin, and this time, its their matriarch and founder Ellen Allien we spotlight tonight. Allien's independent mind and stance has made her a star in Germany. Of course, her innately catchy and forward-thinking sound does all the talking. Check their website for more [http://www.bpitchcontrol.de]. She's even made a fan of River Gods' own Jackie Linnane. Our resident DJs were BPitch devotees long before we caught on, and their aesthetics are two of the finest in the nation. Fresh. New. Sounds.
:: 9pm - 10:30pm :: COOKIES [eavesdrop, WZBC]
:: April 8th, 2003 Nobukazu Takemura Songbook [Bubblecore]
:: 11:30pm - 1am: :: UFO [Eavesdrop, Forced Exposure]

TO COME +++
:: April 29th, 2003 Goldfrapp Black Cherry [Mute]
Goldfrapp's debut CD, Felt Mountain, was a word-of-mouth success story. It eventually sold 500,000 worldwide. Now her second CD puts her in the position to go large.

:: Music Site of the Week :: The Onion AV Club: As you peep the latest in world-class satire, pop over to the Onion's sister culture publication. Its stable of talented scribes keep up with the latest in video, cinema, books and, of course, music. Like its top-rated parent, the AV Club has developed a taste that keeps it a couple of steps ahead of other sites. Bangin.
